Megan Giddings

Picador Guest Professor in the winter semester of 2023

Megan Giddings is an assistant professor at the University of Minnesota. Her first novel, Lakewood, was a finalist for two NAACP Image Awards and an LA Times Book Prize. Her second novel, The Women Could Fly, was a New York Time Editors’ Choice and was one of The Washington Post’s Best Science Fiction and Fantasy Novels of 2022. She has received support from the Barbara Deming Foundation for Feminist Fiction and Hedgebrook.

Megan Giddings was on stage at “Frohes Festival” with Ciani-Sophia Hoeder, Dyvia Ghelani, Amanda Lee Koe and Nat Isabel. They talked about the many facets of feminism worldwide – what unites us, what divides us, and the powerful narratives that bridge the gaps.
